Liz Brady explores the different compositions of plant life under a microscope and unveils the diversity and beauty of these organic forms through her new work. She paints with oil, graphite, and encaustic wax on wood panels so she can scratch, sand, and layer the surface multiple times. The end result is a painting that is richly layered and becomes more and more interesting the closer you become.
Erika Carter is enchanted by folkloric Retablos and X-Votos (small devotional paintings on tin or wood). The simplicity of the composition, color and narratives have inspired her work. Her goal is to create an uncomplicated narrative that relays the colors, scents, sounds, and rich spirit of the Mexico that seems to possess her.
